A dictation and a letter from Mr. Freeman, biographical sketches in the handwriting of Frances Fuller Victor and Lionel A. Sheldon, letters from Edwin W. Elwood Evans (1828-1898), born in Philadelphia, went to Oregon Territory in 1851 as deputy collector of customs at Nisqually. Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. Lionel Allen Sheldon was a U.S. Representative from Louisiana and was Governor of New Mexico Territory from 1881 to 1885. He moved to Los Angeles, California in 1888 and died in Pasadena in 1917.
